Where did the week go?

General Conference and MLC where this week so i have not taught any lessons since wednesday. and n wednesday the car we were driving had a flat tire...so we could go to our appointments until we waited for 3 hours t get it fixed. Me and Sister Trujillo got bored at PepBoys so this is the result of that.

As for General Conference (because that is the only thing i did this week!) i really loved how the overall theme of Saturday session was missionary work and the Plan of Salvation! But if i had to pick a favorite talk i would say the second to last speaker of the sunday afternon session. He talked about how his mom would read the scripture to him and his family every morning, and how he would never listen. I really loved this talk because it made me think about how i want to raise my future family.

Just want you all to know that lately i have been having the strongest urge to cut my hair to my shoulders.......someone hold me back from making the biggest mistake of my life!

Also today we have to clean our apartments to be "temple clean..." to all the battalion sisters that have seen these apartments you all know that i need a straight miracle to do that....pray or me while i have a pday filled with bleach and 45 years worth of dirt.

Another side comment have any of yall seen the movie San Andres?? Well San Diego lies on the San Andres fault line and there is suppose to be a big earthquake here today, and im forever scarred from seeing that movie....

I love you and miss you all!!

literally serving in Africa

This week was a week of miracles!!! Holy frijoles!! bring out the tissues because God was so good to me this week! So it's starts on Wednesday. President Collins brings about 50 Congolese Refugees to the Mormon Battalion. First they have dinner out back, then I take half of them on tour. It was an unusual tour because I had a translator by my side the whole time. The spirit was so strong and even though these people didn't really understand the fully story of these incredible men they were still touched by the spirit that was there during the tour.
On Sunday me and sister Trujillo are given a huge task. We are told that we are going to teach Sunday school to all the Swahili speakers. Last week when the elders taught the restoration it went straight horrible. Like it was literally the worst lesson ever. And president Schmitt was sitting behind them taking notes the whole time.....so I was a little nervous for this lesson because 1.) I don't know Swahili. 2.) I don't want president Schmitt to be there... 3.) I don't know where all these refugees are in the missionary lessons so I don't know if they have already heard the lesson that we are going to teach. But that little phrase "God qualifies who he calls" kept replaying in my head and I knew that even though I had so many fears, God would make us for what I lacked. And that is 100 percent true. Me and S.Tru taught the POS to all these humble refugees and it has changed my life. We made this giant poster with the plan of salvation drawn out on it and had lots of visual aids in the lesson. We also had Rebecca share her testimony in Swahili of the atonement and when she did the spirit was so strong. Some of these precious refugees were crying in the lesson. Tears flowed down not only their face but mine as well as we together learned about that loving plan that God had created for each and every single one of us. The lesson went so well, they were asking questions and even participating!!(which definitely didn't happen when the elders taught) then after the lesson we stayed in the gym and President Collins wife brought out lunch for everyone. She made African food (beans and rice with lots of meat) and I think my companion was more thrilled about it then the refugees ;) but after we got to talk to a lot of these people and hear their story.  Hear how they have felt Gods love in their journey here to America. How they have felt their faith carry them in times of trial. At those moments talking to those refugees I felt an overwhelming feeling of love. I am doing something that I never would have dreamed of doing. I am changing the world one lesson at a time. God is giving me this opportunity and experience as a way to show me how much he LOVES ME!!! And as I feel my saviors love increase I can spread that love to these humble people of Africa.

This week was soooo amazing and one year ago i would have never imagined the things that God would allow me to do! Ahhhh missions are so awesome!

XOXO

Congo Branch

This week was definitely better then last week! So I have some super
cool news! First off we had 37 swahili investigators at church this week!!
We had a member from a different ward come and translate for all of them
and it was the coolest thing everrrrrr!!! My dreams are literally coming true
we are going to start a swahili branch here in San Diego!! Our mission president
has already requested swahili missionaries from the Congo😍😍
And last night all 37 of them got to come to the Mormon Battalion and i got
to take them all on tour!😍😍😍 Congolese Refugees are the highlight of
my mission!

Also I have to tell ya'll a funny story. Mom I hope you don't mind!;)
so this week we get a phone call and we are at the battalion so we
can't answer, but whoever calls leaves a voice message. My companion
listens to the voice message while I am still on a tour and the
message goes like this..."i got your number from your bishop and I
would really like to learn more about your
beliefs.....(laughing)....ok I couldn't resist calling you it was so
good to hear your voice!!! I love you and miss you so much" so my
companion is really confused and calls back, but no one answered this
mysterious phone. She thinks its like a former investigator.
So she texts the number saying "we didn't understand
your voice message, we would love to call you and get to know you..."
Well she said something missionary like along those lines. Then I go
talk to my companion and she tells me all about what had just
happened. How some random person called and wants to learn more about
the church and that she had texted them bla bla bla. I was super
excited because no one ever calls wanting to learn more!!! Woo!!
Thanks bishop!! So we are waiting for the person to text back, and we
get an unusual response. The next message says "no this is your mom
pretending to be an investigator..." I was super confused and looked
at the number and sure enough it was my moms phone number :) hahaha it
was a pleasant surprise and I thought the whole situation was so
funny! Thanks for making my week mom by pretending to be an
investigator ;)

When I was on exchanges this week we were at our temple shift. We were
sitting there when this man on a motorcycle drives up, and there is
something a little different about him....he gets off his bike and he
is dressed in a FULL ON CAPTAIN AMERICA COSTUME!!!! It was slightly
creepy because he was this big fat man, and it looked like he had been
camping in this costume for a couple days.....he asks us to take his
picture so of course we did that. Then he starts telling us all about
how he got excommunicated....!!!! And the whole time the security
guard at the temple was driving past us with his phone in his hand
trying to get a good picture of Captain America. He drove past no joke
like 11 times!! And then Captain America wanted a picture of him and
the temple in his normal clothes. Well the temple is closed so he
could go inside and change his clothes, so he just straight up starts
undressing himself in the parking lot....i can honestly say that has
never happened before.

Well i hope you all have a wonderful week!! Its so great to hear all the things
that are going on in your life!

Facebook

this week was really rough.......

So to start off the CSDM got facebook....something that im really not excited about because i thought that i left facebook at home. Nope the law of consecration is real. So we got training on how our facebook need to look as if we have only been a missionary for our whole life (which means that i have like 6 years of posts to clean off my profile) So i start fixing up my profile. It felt like i was standing in an ocean getting hit continually with waves of memories. After about a solid hour and a half of this abuse i get a violent call from the mission president telling me that my profile is not missionary appropriate and that no one cares how many track meets or volleyball tournaments i played in, and that i needed to delete it all......if any of you served a mission you know how harsh that is coming from your mission president. Part of me wants to be obedient to what President Schmitt has to say, but the other half of me feels like if i delete these pictures that im deleting who i was. So im the midst of all this i make a compulsive decision to just delete my whole account all together so i dont have to worry about my friends judging me for being a nun. So folks i no longer have a normal facebook account. I am now Sister-Olivia Price and if you want to see the most molly Mormon sad profile go ahead and add me. :)

Well this week has not been the best. Hopefully next week will be better. Me and my companion didnt take any pictures so i have 0 to send...i will be better next week.

Summer Romance Ends

Have you ever seen those classic love movies where the boy and girl meet at the beginning of the summer, spend all summer together, then after a couple of months one of them has to leave and go to school or something? And both of their hearts break because they want to spend the rest of eternity together? You know those movies? This morning as I took Sister Patterson to the airport I felt like I was in one of those movies....that or i felt like part of my heart was getting ripped from my chest..3 transfers of pure bliss that is all i have to say! I feel like im still trying to recover from her leaving, but i know that her family is going to be so excited to see her! (psstt Terri dont forget to send me picture!;)

So let me just say something spiritual real quick. Something really amazing that i learned from being with Sister Patterson is how to truly follow the example of Jesus Christ as a missionary, but have fun at the same time. She made decisions that would help others around her and put her absolute heart into everything she did. Weather that was sticking pictures on the wall or teaching someone about the Restoration. I dont think there was a single day that i saw Sister Patterson outwardly show someone that she didnt care. Everything always mattered. She put her entire heart and soul into her mission and she made a difference in many peoples life (including mine).

But i have a new companion now! Sister Trujillo!! She is from Honduras and is the only sister at the Battalion taller then me! So it should be really fun! So since S.Patty was leaving this week we just ate a lot with members....#oops but here are a ton of pics of the different members we are with!!:D
